There are a number of special events available to attend during the Conference. We'd love to see you at as many as you can attend!






Author Presentation and Reception
Evening, Free

        René Colato Laínez is a talented, award winning Salvadoran author of numerous multicultural and bilingual books. He is a graduate of the Vermont College MFA program in Writing for Children & Young Adults. René is a bilingual elementary teacher at Fernangeles Elementary School, where his students refer to him as "the teacher full of stories.” His writing style embraces his culture, reflects his language, and captures his experiences as an immigrant. René has received several awards including the International Latino Book Award, Americas Book Award Commended Title, and the International Reading Association Teacher’s Choice.

FRIDAY Special Event:

We have invited an award-winning band to provide great entertainment for our Friday Night Special Event.  At this event, please come enjoy great music and wonderful food--with hot appetizers, desserts and a cash bar. Tickets are available to purchase when you register for the conference. We encourage you to register early for this event so that we can get an accurate headcount.  Tickets are $25.  Entertainment will be provided by The Replicas (  We look forward to celebrating and socializing with you!


Please register for all events when you register for the Conference; even with the free events, it's nice to have a head count for catering.
